We’re proud to share an inspiring story from Athlone, where students from Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone organised a charity event to support Social Ground Force’s mission — building Ireland’s National Suicide Prevention Network.
This amazing initiative was led by Erin Hodgins, a third-year student of Applied Social Studies in Social Care, who brought together her classmates, family, and friends for a fancy dress football match on October 23, 2025, to raise awareness about addiction and mental health support.

Erin’s passion for helping others comes from personal experience — her family’s story inspired her to take action, and her dedication turned a small idea into a community event that touched many hearts.
“When I discovered the work of Social Ground Force, something truly resonated with me. Addiction and mental health issues run in my family and it has always been an important topic for me to talk about and reinforce the importance of helping as much as we, as a community, can”, said Erin.
With the help of her classmates and family — including her father, who sponsored the event through TBI BICASA Scientific — Erin raised funds, built awareness, and united people for a cause that truly matters.
We are deeply grateful to Erin and all the students who stood with us in Athlone.
Your energy, compassion, and leadership show that Ireland’s youth are ready to change lives — one community at a time.
